2010 Remarkable Women

The Boulder County Business Report held the inaugural Remarkable Women event in late April. The event recognized the accomplishments of 12 women in 11 categories. The BCBR staff selected the winners from approximately 100 nominations. We were contracted to produced individual interviews with each winner and provide a DVD and digital files to be played during the event, and used on the BCBR Facebook video page – http://goo.gl/fbsS

SRAM Tour of the Gila

Silver City, NM hosts the “biggest little bike race in America” in late April. This year was the 24th edition of the race and SRAM stepped in as the title sponsor. We were brought along to document the event and provide video material for The Road Diaries blog / social media channel. United Healthcare Pro Cycling

In February we attended the United Healthcare Pro Cycling team training camp in Tucson, Arizona. We were there to capture video from some of their training rides as well as put together individual rider interviews. The video content was used in a number of ways including web video, a TV commercial and during a team / VIP event on a flat panel display.

Here is a collection of shots from 2-days of training is Tucson. Elements of this video were used in a TV commercial that was broadcast during the 2010 Amgen Tour of California.

Live Video Broadcasts

Since the beginning of 2010 we have been getting back into the live video game and have successfully broadcast a handful of events including the monthly Boulder New Tech Meetup. Our renewed interest in live broadcasting is due to faster broadband and new tools available that make the end user experience a very good one. We were turned on to the new Ustream Producer software, which allows the broadcaster to easily prep graphics in advance and mix a variety of audio, video and graphics on the fly during the live event.

We have more live events scheduled over the next couple of months and are now offering live video broadcasting as a service to companies looking to reach larger audiences and a way for people to participate without having to be present at the location of the meeting or event. This service can be used for internal company communications or external broadcasts to the general public.

2009 Muddy Buddy Boulder

OnSight Media was on hand to document the fun that is Muddy Buddy. Compared to last year, the temps were warmer and the clouds steered clear of the Boulder Reservoir. The event kicked off with a costume contest. I’ll let the video tell the rest of the story:

2009 Tour de France – Video Content

2009 seemed to be the tipping point in online video coverage of the Tour de France. Looking at the following link shows the vast number of outlets for live (over 30 live video feeds) and archived video featuring everything and anything Tour related. http://www.steephill.tv/tour-de-france

VeloNews TV raised the bar for the 2009 edition and produced a daily show highlighting each stage. VeloCenter, which was hatched in February at the Tour of California, had grown from a small team on location to a two pronged approach with field production at the race and a desk show, editing and publishing being handled in Denver, CO. Futuristic Films provided an additional location camera crew and handled all of the post production in their Denver studio. The workflow hinged on being able to deliver video assets via FTP from France to Denver in a timely manner.

The first week was all about learning and perfecting the workflow while managing the constant logistical mess that is the Tour. Our motto became “nothing is guaranteed until your head hits the pillow”. By the second week everything was coming together and VeloCenter blossomed with its tight format of race highlights, rider interviews, analysis and in show features. Here is an examples of a show feature that was produced by the team on location during the race:

One of the most impressive accomplishments was John Wilcockson’s award for covering 40 Tours de France. The 2009 event was actually his 41st Tour, but organizers presented him his 40-year award this year before the start of stage 10 in Limoges:

By the end of the race the video team had produced 24 episodes of VeloCenter. The following episode from stage 17 represents the capability and effort of everyone involved in the project:

Denver Marathon – Frank Shorter Running Tips

The Denver Marathon is slated for October 18th 2009. The home page for the event has the standard links to information, registration, sponsors, and a store. The right column of the main page features a link to three videos that we produced specifically for the event. The videos are hosted by Olympic Gold Medalist and Boulder, CO resident Frank Shorter. They address questions about getting acclimated for the marathon and how to prepare for running at altitude.

House Concert Update

Our last Front Porch House Concerts update was in April and a few artists have made their way onto the stage since then. Antje Duvekot (video below) opened for Lucy Kaplansky on May 16th.

The Clumsy Lovers recently played at the end of June and the videos are now available for viewing on the YouTube channel.
