In conjunction with Singletrack.com we helped produce a series of videos sponsored by Herbalife leading up to and including race day. The videos appeared daily during the 2-weeks prior to the event and the race day highlights made it onto the site within 24-hours after the event finished.
Here are a few examples of the sponsored videos and the race highlight:
2011 marked the 6th year we have produced daily online video content at the Tour de France. This year was a little different in that we only attended the 1st half of the race with the VeloNews crew. After the start of stage 11 we headed to the train station on route to Paris and flew back to Colorado the following day. All told it was a very exciting first 10 stages of racing. Much of the content we shot and edited can be found on the VeloNews site – http://velonews.competitor.com/category/tour-de-france Here are a few videos from our daily list, which included a daily diary with HTC – Highroad rider Bernie Eisel and a post race wrap with Ben and Andy:
We completed our 5th consecutive Amgen Tour of California producing video interviews and features for VeloNews. Here is a list of links to each Taylor Phinney daily diary and some of the features that were posted during the 8-day stage race.
The fine folks at Oskar Blues have been keeping uss busy lately. This video was put together on February 19th and highlights Gordon Knight’s birthday and launch of G’Knight Imperial Red at the Tasty Weasel Taproom. It was also Erik the Viking’s final Colorado show. The day included Music, food, Fundraising for the Lyons Community Foundation, Helicopter rides, beer and a great atmosphere.
Oskar Blues continue their online video marketing assault with a behind the scenes view of the brewery as they continue to lead the EVOLUTION of canned craft beer.
We were involved in publishing an Enhanced eBook that was recently approved and has gone live as an iBook in the Apple iBookstore. We are calling this an “Enhanced eBook” due to the fact that there is a video included in the full version. The video is embedded in the pages of the book and can be expanded to full screen in landscape or vertical orientation. The title is available on the iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch devices.
The tricky part is actually finding the iBook. The only way to discover the title is to download the free iBook app and load it on your iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch. Once you are in the app you can browse or search in the iBookstore, make purchases or download free titles and load them into the library on your device.
One cool feature we discovered during this process is that Apple creates a sample that is free to download. It contains a limited number of pages and allows the user to purchase from within the pages of the book. This particular sample does not include the video, but we have seen other titles, like Nixonland, that contain several videos in their sample iBook.
During the final week of the 2010 Tour de France, ABC Nightline contacted VeloNews regarding an upcoming story they were producing about Floyd Landis and doping in professional cycling. ABC needed sound bites from John Wilcockson, a journalist who has been covering the Tour for the past 42 years. An interview was coordinated and John answered questions asked by an ABC point of contact via cell phone.
